課程概述

本課程主要以閱讀與討論二次大戰以後美國史的英文史學名著為主，旨在介紹有關重要歷史事件如冷戰、五０年代的美國社會、美國黑人民權運動、婦女運動、越戰、新左派運動等的相關論文。教學方式除了教師介紹論文之重要性及時代背景之外，主要是學生口頭報告、課堂討論。所有選課同學務請課前預讀，查好生字，以備教師抽問。當天負責報告的的同學不但要翻譯課文，還必須利用參考資料查考課文中的專有名詞之相關內容。對本課程史實不熟悉的同學，請自行參考Gary B. Nash, et al , The American People: Creating a Nation and a Society第二冊 

課程目標
 熟悉美國現代史之歷史解釋之外，培養學生閱讀英文論文之能力自行利用工具書進行研究能力，課堂討論 
課程要求
 學生要預先準備所分配論文閱讀與翻譯，在預定時間內輪流為全班同學報告其預習之內容。在預定報告上課時，不可任意缺席，如因無故缺席，耽誤到整個課程進度，期末總成績將扣五分。
